Oracle IRM

Oracle Information Rights Management (formerly SealedMedia and Stellent Information Rights Management) is the best system to secure and track the use of sensitive documents and emails-even when copies are sent beyond your own network. Oracle Information Rights Management leverages industry-standard AES and RSA cryptography along with advanced software tamper-proofing and screen grab protection for security. Centralized management of end-user access rights along with a classification based rights management model provides enterprise-wide scalability.

Oracle IRM software is used to encrypt (“seal”) files so that only authorized users can temporarily decrypt and use sealed files. The novelty of Oracle IRM is in the transparency with which authorized users can use sealed information within standard desktop applications and the fact that the Oracle IRM client software (the “Unsealer”) continues to protect and track sealed information even while it is in use, preventing the end user from ever obtaining access to the raw, decrypted information.

This application not only manages documents, emails and web pages while they remain stored within server-side repositories. It uses encryption to extend the management of information beyond the repository - to every copy of an organization's most sensitive information, everywhere it is stored and used - on end user desktops, laptops and mobile wireless devices, in other repositories, inside and outside the firewall. Also, some new elements are introduced to workflow, such as encrypting ("sealing") and classifying documents, emails and web pages.

The document sealing solution (which makes up of three primary components – the Sealer, the Unsealer and the License Server) enables you to continue using the standard applications and formats, and does not require conversion to new or proprietary formats. It provides users the ability to persistently control documents in “active” formats (i.e. Email, Microsoft Words, Excel and Powerpoint.), in additional to image, music and video formats.

There is no need to create unprotected versions at any stage of the document lifecycle. Oracle IRM easily adds non-invasive, persistent protection to existing collaborative business processes. It seals digital files, not the infrastructure within which they are stored, or through which they are delivered. Therefore, any delivery mechanisms that are safe in the knowledge of your information, is persistently protected.
